3D Projects

During my time at university, I had the incredible opportunity to explore various 3D software programs that allowed me to bring my creative projects to life. Each tool offered unique features and capabilities, helped me enhance my skills in design and visualization. The experience was not only educational but also inspiring, as I learned to push the boundaries of my creativity and innovate within the digital space. These projects became a significant part of my academic journey, shaping my passion for 3D design.

Wine Glass

To create this object, I used a line spline to define the shape of the glass, ensuring a sleek and accurate silhouette. The modifier lathe was then applied to transform the 2D line into a 3D object, effectively capturing the intricate geometry of the glassware. Following the same technique, I generated the wine within the glass, adding a touch of realism to the model.
For the material, I employed the physical material shader, which allowed me to craft a highly realistic and visually appealing surface that mimics the appearance and properties of actual glass and liquid. This attention to detail elevates the overall quality of the object, showcasing both my technical skills and dedication to creating visually captivating 3D models.

Jug

To create this object, I began by using a line spline to establish the basic shape of the jug. I then used the modifier lathe to meticulously convert the 2D outline into a three-dimensional object. In order to refine the spout, I transformed the jug into an editable mesh, enabling precise manipulation and control over its form.

For the handle, I repeated the line spline and lathe process and subsequently converted it into an editable mesh to achieve the desired shape and position. To ensure accurate texturing, I applied the unwrap UVW technique on both the jug and the handle, allowing for seamless texture application and manipulation.

As an essential part of my university coursework, I exported the objects into Adobe Substance Painter, an industry-standard software, to apply materials and textures. This allowed me to create a visually captivating and realistic jug with intricate details, ultimately showcasing my proficiency in various 3D modelling techniques and software applications.

Basic Chair

I created this object using a minimalist approach, employing only the box primitive and symmetry tool in 3D’s Max to build its structure with balance and proportion. After refining the form, I used 3D’s Max's pre-made textures to enhance its visual appeal. This transformation highlights the capabilities of 3D’s Max's tools and resources.

Human Heart

To create this object, I started with a simple box and altered the object by using the extrude, cut, slice plane, and ring and connect tools to add the tube coming out of the heart. Using reference photos to guide how they come out of the heart. Then exported the heart and imported it into Blender to use their sculpting tool to smooth and redefine the creased of the heart. Then added a simple red colour material onto the heart.

Ink Bottle

To create this object, a line spline and the lathe modifier were used to form the shape of the bottle. It was then converted into an editable poly to adjust the lip for a handmade appearance with imperfections. A section of the bottle was copied and pasted to create the label. Another line and lathe were used to create the ink inside the bottle. The label had a modifier unwrap UVW put on it and edited in Photoshop to add writing and age the edges.

Table with Cloth

This object consists of three distinct stages. First, the tabletop shape was formed using the line spline tool to create a rough outline, which was then converted from a 2D shape into a 3D object using the lathe modifier. Subsequently, the table legs were crafted by starting with a box, converting it into an editable poly, and shaping it accordingly. The copy feature was then utilized to replicate the leg, creating three additional legs placed equidistantly around the table. These components were then exported into Substance Painter to apply wood effects and add scratches to the tabletop for added character.

The next stage involved creating the cloth draped over the table. This was achieved by using a circle spline and applying the garment maker modifier to simulate realistic cloth. The cloth was then draped over the table using the cloth modifier. Finally, the object was exported to Adobe Substance Painter to texture the cloth and age it with stains.

Highland Cow (my favourite)

To create the cow, I used a box and ring and connect to create cuts into the box so that I could use the extrude tool to add the legs and horns to the cow. I then create two more copies and delete parts of the cow so that the horns, nose and hooves and the main body were separated. I then colour each part in using physical material in the material shader. On the main body part, I used the hair and fur modifier to add fur to the cow and when I was happy with the layout, I turned it into a mesh so I could export it a .GLB.

Knife

To create the knife, I used two boxes and made them editable polys. I then used refence images to shape the blade and the handle. I then used the premade texture in 3D’s max to the objects.

Tree Stump

To create the tree stump I used a box and turned it into an editable poly. The used the ring and connect techniques to split the box. I then turned the editable poly into an editable mesh to extrude parts of the box. I then added a mesh smooth modifier. Another modifier was added after (Unwrap UVW) to take it into photoshop to add the tree stump texture to the object.
